Welcome to StudentFinAidInfoStudentFinAidInfo - Financial Aid FAQ, Student Loan And FAFSA, FAFSA Divorced Parent Question: FAFSA question?
I made a mistake by accidently putting parents will not file the 2007 income tax return, when they had already filed it. Now I'm worried I am not going to be able to change it? Thanks

well when I filled out the FAFSA school asked me to bring w2's and tax papers and I had parents income wrong by a lot, all they did was fixed errors and yeah, a month later I got money.
i even think they give yo a chance to fix it when you go to check your status. At the end they give you a break down of all of your answers ...
At the end they give you a break down of all of your answers and let you go back and edit the information. Just continue on and then save instead of submit at the end and go back and change it.This is an easy fix. If you find you've made a mistake ...
This is an easy fix. If you find you've made a mistake after submitting your FAFSA, you will have to wait until after it has been processed to make corrections. When you receive an e-mail that your FAFSA has been processed and your SAR is available for you to view, you can make corrections online through Corrections on the Web. Note: you must have a PIN to correct your FAFSA data online.
Go to http://www.FAFSA.ed.gov/fotwwebapp/complete014.jsp and correct your FAFSA data and submit the corrections electronically. Good luck!Question: FAFSA divorced parent question?
I've got a real quick question.
My parents are divorced and dad is custodial parent. That was the agreement when they got divorced, I spend 80% of time with him and he is really the only one of the two that contributes anything at all.
So, when I'm filling out the FAFSA form do I just not include anything at all where it asks for information about mother? My mom does make quite a bit of money so I really don't want ot include her on the thing, especially since I have doubts that she'll contribute much of anything in the way of paying for college.
So, do I just completely ignore the part that asks about mom?
Thanks.: You would include your Dad's information and his current ...
You would include your Dad's information and his current wife if he is remarried. You only have to submit information for one of your parents, ...
You only have to submit information for one of your parents, include your dad because he makes less money so that means more free money for you!!!Question: What is EFC on the FAFSA?!?
My EFC is 03096. What does that mean!?estimated family contribution
That is what you and/or ...
estimated family contribution
That is what you and/or your parents are expected to contribute to your college expenses. In your case, you and your family are expected to contribute $3096 toward college. Your award package will be determined by the school(s) you are applying to based on this figure compared to the total costs of attending that school. Its a score, means you just finished your FAFSA process. ...
its a score, means you just finished your FAFSA process. Your school wil use the code. They will contact you telling you if you have recieved aid.are you sure there was a 0 in front of the 3096?
ours was ...
are you sure there was a 0 in front of the 3096?
ours was 4700. I can tell you what the Fin. aid office told me.
out of the $13000 that it costs a year for son to go to the university, that 4700 is our responsiblity to pay. BUT that other scholaships/loans pick it up that the university finds thru the General Scholarship application I filed with them.
Hope that helps. I'm still confused about the whole thing myself. You will get an "award" letter in the mail, telling you more info.Question: can I use FAFSA for textbooks?
yes
yesYes, anything school-related.
Yes, anything school-related.You can buy textbooks with your loans or grants, you can ...
You can buy textbooks with your loans or grants, you can also fill up your car with gas if you drive it to school, pay your living expenses (rent and bills) if you are in school and anything else you'd like to do that is school related.
The government is helping you earn a degree and get your education, anything that will help make that easier you can use the money for. Hope that helps! ;)Question: Student Loan and FAFSA?
I have a student loan that I am not paying b/c I can barely survive w/ what I make and I wanted to go to beauty school, do u think they will deny me if I apply for a grant w/ FAFSA?Try it won't hurt. But FAFSA isn't friendly to ...
Try it won't hurt. But FAFSA isn't friendly to certain students. I'd suggest also trying NAACP, UNCF, and related organizations. But, they have much smaller budgets so they can't help as many people.
The system is stacked against poor, and/or Black/White/Hispanic students, especially males.
The system needs to feed the jail system (billions of dollars for suburban communities, guards, lawyers, corporate jails, vendors) and low income jobs (McDonald's).
Education, up to Bachelors level, should be FREE to everyone. If Cuba could do it, and Iraq, don't we? Because our system needs a large group of people at the bottom who are headed to jail, low income jobs, and/or "capitalistic fodder".You could go ahead and apply. Sounds like you need all the ...
You could go ahead and apply. Sounds like you need all the help you can get. As for the FAFSA, they actually cater to the low income. The middle class are the ones that suffer. example: both parents of a entering college freshman work full time. Barely make ends meet, making around 50K a year. Guess what, that student will not get any grants. But, if your family are deadbeats, living off the government, your kid can go for free!! How fair is that? But in your case, you deserve the help and thats how it should be, going to the people that are working to make a better life for themselves, not living off the gov. and making the rest of us pay for them. My son will prob. end up with a lot of loans himself because our neighbors son got all the money, whose parents have never worked a day in their life! Good luck to yaYep they will deny you. Your student loans are all ...
Yep they will deny you. Your student loans are all connected through the US Department of Education. They will not give you more money if you already owe them money. You have to start paying what you owe, bring it current and then apply for beauty school. If they see you are making an effort, they will put your loan on hold and give you more money to finish school.
FAFSA is free, federal student aid to ALL types of students. The system is not "stacked" against minority students. I work in a low-income, low socio-economic high school as a teacher and have been helping students fill out FAFSAs for 7 years now. I know first hand that minority students have MORE of a chance to receive grants and loans than other students. FAFSA is in place to send people to college that can't otherwise afford it - not to discriminate against who goes.
Education is FREE to everyone, you just have to fill out the proper FREE forms, like the FAFSA, and put the work in to get the free money. If you don't take the time to put the work in, then the system will obviously not work for you. |
